it's pretty simple if you think about it. the code uses an html5 canvas to layer different elements into one graphic. basically, it draws a background gradient based on the hex codes you pick, it places your uploaded, cropped image and overlays decorative stuff, lastly it renders the text using a custom pixel font. to replicate it, you just need javascript to do the drawing steps. I can explain over email maybe?
