@just-a-husk to me i just dont really like GNOME, reminds me too much of mac, that and some things you install have a chance to "gnome" you, so its also a slight annoyance
what jaiden said + less customization without plugins + community complaining about people using plugins + people acting like it's the only real DE for people who want to get work done + gnome apps forcing you to have gnome styling + etc. etc.
I like having my own DE or WM the way I like it, I don't want someone else's vision of how people should have things set up forced upon me. Gnome apps and users insist upon themselves.
Anyways not everyone who uses gnome is like this it's just the majority of users I have encountered. A loud portion of the userbase that doesn't represent the whole.
