I do draw traditional art!! But not as much as digital and I’m not that good. I like to doodle but I don’t like colouring that much. I posted some of my drawings on tiktok and some on toyhouse!! Also it’s all on lined paper because I just like the texture of it a lot

Nah this is a valid frustration, it's not about not being grateful that people enjoy your work, it's just difficult to do anything with praise except say thanks. It's affirming and it's really nice to receive, but it's not... helpful? Like if someone said "I hate this and here's why" about my art I'd be like ow, but also thank you bc that's way more considered than just saying "cute!<3" and nothing else.

Think I might be guilty of the "cool" "cute" thing. I don't always like to give constructive feedback to artists without asking first because some people can really not like that, knowing you are okay with it I'll try be more helpful in future. But I also think being "tired" of compliments is also a you problem, like damn I'm sorry for liking your artwork.

Honestly fair enough, when you get one word compliments all the time its hard to really differentiate it from all the other compliments you get, its sorta like getting likes or views, at one point stuff like that starts to matter less and less. Cant really say you're too much of an asshole honestly, at least you arent like jonochrome who are like "NO DONT LIKE MY STUFF, DIE" (exaggerating a bit there, but -

- the mf didnt really like it when people liked something too much and wanted to see more) telling people to also go ahead and be more specific about what they like isnt too bad of a thing to say, but people at times just wanna relax and take a look at some cute anime girl art so I can also understand that side for not being overly specific as well, another thing to consider would be being scared of giving - (oh fuk)

- criticism since at times it seems rude, I get that feeling a lot and theres probably someone out there who feels the same, specially if its about small things in a drawing. But thats just my opinion on the matter anyways (yummy 3 parter of a comment)

@pixelglade I’m sorry and I wasn’t trying to be rude, I’m just saying those types of compliments feel low effort and soulless because there’s nothing to them, I get too many of them. And I never brought up constructive criticism so I’m not sure where you and lemerks are getting that from. I never said you can’t like my artwork or that I’m mad about it either

Never said I was ungreatful. You’re missing my point. Imagine having someone tell you that you’re loved evrey single day. The word will loose meaning to you overtime

Or imagine it like this: you have something interesting to show to somewone. You’re very exited to show it, and when you finally DO show it to them, all they can say is a uninterested sounding “cool.” That feeling sucks, right? That’s how I feel when I get 50 comments only saying the word “peak” it feels like nobody is actually intrested

Okay I think I interpreted "Like what about my art do you like exactly? Is there any cool details you noticed? Did I improve from last time?" as wanting constructive criticism when what you want is more specific compliments. Idk but you don't get to choose the compliments you like. If you're getting 50+ compliments on your artwork and you feel like it's empty and soulless, you're not considering that someone (1/2)

someone still went out of their way to comment on something of yours. You're basically saying "your feelings are useless" when you say stuff like people one-line comments like "peak" or whatever is not worth anything to you because you think it's soulless. It's probably not soulless to them. It sounds like you don't appreciate that your art is popular with people. (2/2)

Are you misinterpreting me in a negative way on purpose? One of the best compliments I got was from my friend who said my art looked like Kirarin revolution. Or one person on here saying that my site made them cry. Actual compliments that made me feel like continuing art. It would’ve felt empty if it was the same word over and over with nothing else to it. It’s not about greatfullness.

Anyways I don’t want this to become an argument, it’s just a nitpick that bothered me and wanted to get off my chest so I’ll just ignore you now

Eye agree. but mostly ecause i want to know what you see. Where i can improve/if i want to improve on certain aspects. if im doing what i want to do "right". if the interpretations are different. ect. Like your art for example i love how you shade, "cute" does not tell you to keep shading the way you do. you know. i agree with you.

its not critism, if you like something, you have a reason for it. Why. "because its cute" means nothing to you and me. Ok. Babies are cute. why "because they are" because im a human who naturally wants to protect weak helpless humans. We are the most intelligent thing out there yet you dont know why you feel a certain way about somehting?

its hard to explain. eyether way eye(ther) agree with you. i think "tiring and boring" are strong, but at the same time, what other word is better? maybe jaded? that sounds intense, too. Its unsatisfying. Its fleeting.I dont need paragraphs. what do you find "cute"? that doesnt mean anything. do you find the colors cute? eyes? the shading? lighting? "cute" means nothing.

people have called my work "eerie" and "off putting" before. I take it as is because sometimes with that emotion specifically, its hard to articulate that feeling something you wouldnt think would give you, gives you, it catches you off gord. But it doesnt tell me much, either, do you understand what im doing? do you understand it more than i do? are you picking up what im putting down? is it a style youve never seen

before? i can keep asking questions, but "off putting" does not give me an answer. And if you want to throw a quick compliment, thats fine, but dont be upset or confused if i ask you why

It DOES sound a bit assholeish im sure. But i know thats not where its coming from. theres no hate involved. You put so much into something just for someone to nod, yet youre told we are so smart and can do anything. Its just preference, really.

I think it's a very tiktok way of complimenting someone... personally the way you feel about them is very valid It's not that hard to say "I love your art style!" or "I love how you drew the hair!", but I think people might just be shy these days <3
