hi caro, i saw your message and raced to give you an answer. you must get your hands on a sample of filippo sorcinelli's notre dame 15.4.2019; the perfumer is the papal tailor and has an entire separate series, with fantastic bottles, inspired by many iconic churches.

also you might like to smell jovoy paris' la liturgie des heures, which smells terrifically like a very old church but not much like one that's burnt down. perhaps consider investigating oriza l. legrand's relique d'amour, also very cathedral-esque. its hard to judge a stranger's nose, so please let me know what you think of any of these!

i think your advice is going to become a problem for my bank account because they sound spot on. Jovoy and Oriza L Legrand both have a shop in my city and I think I found a spot where I could find the Filippo Sorcellini. Thank you thank you thank you for the advice, I'll definitely keep you updated !!

i love your shrine for catholic artifacts, i'm in the same boat as a non-believer and collector. I think its because i'm an outsider that i find them so beautiful and interesting... such a rich visual and symbolic history! definitely inspired me to think about putting up a shrine for my collection :) cheers!

Thank you!! I think there are many of us who find these things beautiful and fascinating despite not believing. You should totally make a shrine for your collection, I'd love to see it!

New ghost How much in your eyes does the average "everyday superstition" carry reverence despite banality

Hi, great question :) I think it relies on the level of uncertainty or risk in someone's life. Following Malinowski's theory on magic (that people tend to believe in and use magic more during periods of uncertainty, risk, or danger) then the less "stable" an individual's life the more reverence for / adherence to superstition. 1/

There is a wonderful Italian phrase (non e vero ma ci credo) that means "its not true but I believe it". When the going gets tough, superstitions have an easier barrier to entry than something like organized religion, which is designed to fill the same need. In times of strife, anything that might help is worth trying. Check out this article:https://meissinger.com/uploads/3/4/9/1/34919185/gmelch_baseball_magic.pdf

There's new music, new books, and new archive pages for each of those. Guestbook is back up, too.
