FLOPSHIN MIDPACTTT actually true though...i 100% agree with ur thoughts on how they tackle character quests and a lot of the main quest as well
(my comment got cut off arrghh) they get so close to delving into the actual meat of an interesting plotline only to backtrack with the most watered down solution :-(
