yeah, its a real mess. part of me wants to not care about the social media popularity aspect of neocities because i like the idea of visiting a website to check in on your pals (oldweb style) rather than having some algorithmic score attached to your account---

and the other part of me is like, if its gonna be a part of neocities it should work correctly and be fair. i DO enjoy finding folks with the tag and profile system.

the whole reason i want to get away from social media is the fascist aligned community standards, and it sucks to see that creeping into neocities.

anyway, at the bottom of my web pages theres a link to my RSS feed. thats the best way for general updates to my website with context.
thank you for the post. i started to reply to this in the comments, i dont love the social-media feel of the neocities profile system though. which is fine, BECAUSE youve inspired me to put some of the images from beepboop.org up on my photoblog and write about it! i should be able make that post in the next few days. thank you for the inspiration to update my website! what a fun way to use the internet ;p
