Was thinking about having an hours worked on my website counter for a work portfolio site, saw @seamreaper is doing the same. Really wish I had thought to keep track when I joined a year ago. I have absolutely no idea how long I've been working on this... But I'll do some math real quick. This will not go on my website but I wanted to think about it.

Current theme (setup): about a week when I had the flu. I slept for a lot of it, but i was awake about 6-8 hours a day. Split the difference, 7. 7*7 is 49. I already had a very rudimentary layout set up before then, but I won't count that, in order to be conservative. I have easily spent that on subsequent updates. I'll round down to 31 hours to be conservative and get a nice number. so like. 80 hours.

I had two themes before this. They were templates, which were easier, but still took a significant time investment. Let's assume about 30 hours for each theme and its subsequent updates. 60+80=140 These fucking wiki pages alone have taken me like. 5-8 hour days. I've done about 6 sessions. Let's go 5 hours each day. 5*8=40 40+140=180 (VERY CONSERVATIVE ESTIMATE. EXTREMELY.)

I really wish i had real numbers. Imagine if NC had a counter for time spent in the HTML editor. Not universally ideal since I know some people do their fiddling elsewhere and just drop the finished code in their website. But for me, I do all my shit in here. I love tweaking, saving and hard refreshing to see the update, then tweaking some more.

I'm no seasoned webdev but I think it would be good to be honest with how long this shit takes. It is a massive timesink. Good thing I love this hobby enough to sink literally hundreds of hours putzing around on the internet.

5*6 *** not 5*8. I can type. Lmfao. The imprecision of my math is lowkey kind of pissing me off but what are you gonna do. Man. I'm really kicking myself for this.

new math: updates have anywhere from 10 seconds to an hour or two between them. Let's assume 5 minutes. 5 * 2830 = 14150 / 60 = ~236 hours. /24 = A little under 10 straight days. That feels more accurate but also doesn't make any sense at all. How much time is that even? that's just a number.
